Pop up toilet

This is a product idea more than a business, but it's the earliest good idea I can remember having, and I'd tell it to anyone who listened.  The idea was an external device that attaches to a toilet in your home, so when you step up to the bowl in your house, your foot goes on a pedal and the seat opens up like one of those trash cans.  This solves a couple problems.  First, there's no great way to grab a toilet seat to lift it.  You know there's pee on the toilet seat, because you yourself have peed on it in the past.  My idea is a hands off easy way to lift the seat with minimal effort (i.e. no bending over).  The second problem it solves is the classic complaint of very wife "put the toilet seat down!"  As soon as you walk away and remove your foot, the seat automatically goes back down.  Problem(s) SOLVED.

The problem with this idea is that it apparently now exists (hence how I got the pic).  BUT, for some reason it's not popular or even known about.  I think this is a marketing failure.  50% of the population are men who lift the seat  in their homes when they pee, and the other 50% of the population don't like it when the toilet seat is left up. More importantly 100% of the non-homeless people (read: consumers) have at least 1 toilet in their house.

Marketing idea...you could get a kiosk in a mall the month before fathers day for cheap and sell a ton of these things I think. You could also sell the squatty potty at the same kiosk if you wanted.  I think it would sell well.  The viral nature of this is obvious.
